Durban's World cup stadium will come under threat next week as construction workers are expected to down tools stopping work on the potential 2010 soccer World Cup stadium.
There are already concerns that the Moses Mabhida stadium would not be completed in time for the World Cup so any further delays could be catastrophic.
The strike is supported by around 1200 workers who are members of the National Union of Mineworkers are threatening to go on strike if their demands are not met. NUM’s KwaZulu-Natal coordinator Bonginkosi Mncwabe said there were two main issues in dispute.
"We want a R1 500 project bonus which workers were promised in their contract. He added: "The second issue is one of safety.
"This is non-negotiable. The project needs a full- time health and safety representative."
