The Department of Home Affairs has issued working permits to the new Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Parreira and his Brazilian assistant, Jairo Lopes Cesar Leal.
The two mentors, who arrived in South Africa last month, did not have working permits until such documents were issued on Monday.
This follows the department's announcement last week that the two Brazilians would not be allowed to work in the country until their permits were finalised.
The department's spokesperson Mantshele Tau said that the South African Football Association (SAFA) had applied for permits on behalf of the two coaches late.
However, he then promised that the department would process the applications immediately in the interest of the country's preparations for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
"On the 7th February 2007 the Department of Home Affairs received an application for a work permit submitted by SAFA on behalf of the Head Coach, Carlos Alberto Gomes Parreira," he said.
Mr Tau said they later realised that the application was incomplete, and requested SAFA last Friday to urgently submit outstanding documents.
"On Monday [yesterday], SAFA submitted all the outstanding documents for both the head coach and his assistant and now they have been issued with the work permits," said Mr Tau.
Regarding media reports that the department threatened to have Mr Parreira arrested for working without relevant permits, Mr Tau dismissed such reports as misleading.
"We dismiss such reports as irresponsible because they are misleading. Our position is that it is the employer, SAFA, who is at fault and not Mr Parreira," he said.
Mr Parreira is expected to start preparing Bafana Bafana for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad in N'Djamena next month.
The sixty three year-old coach, who won the FIFA World Cup in 1994 at the helm of his native Brazilian team, made headlines in the country after signing a four year contract which includes a whopping monthly salary of R1, 8 million.
