The IT Manager of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (OC), Mr Zakes Mnisi, has been suspended pending the outcome of a disciplinary enquiry into alleged irregularities.
The suspension is with effect from 20 March 2008 and followed an investigation by an external firm of forensic investigators which revealed certain alleged irregularities.
The nature of the alleged irregularities is the subject of a disciplinary enquiry to be arranged between the Organising Committee and Mr Mnisi.
The appropriate statutory procedures will be followed and a charge sheet will be prepared.
Mr Mnisi's suspension will have no effect on the rollout of the organisation's IT programme and other members within the organisation will continue IT-related duties without any loss in continuity and momentum.
The LOC prides itself in upholding and enforcing the values of integrity and excellence. Any transgression of these values is non-negotiable.
