FIFA have ordered Kenya to put recognised officials in charge of soccer in the country, saying a court decision over the running of the game could jeopardise the 2010 World Cup according to Reuters.
A Kenyan court last week handed the running of the country's chaotic soccer set-up to a faction of the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) not recognised by world governing body FIFA.
"These latest events jeopardise the organisation of the forthcoming FIFA 2010 World Cup...the court decision violates football's international principles," FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke said in a letter to the KFF seen by Reuters.
FIFA urged the government to register recognised officials within 72 hours, with the deadline starting from Monday.
Kenya are due to play their first Group Two qualifier for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa against Namibia in Windhoek on May 31. Guinea and Zimbabwe are in the same group.
Kenya at one time had two parallel domestic leagues, run by different bodies.
