Hanover goalkeeper Robert Enke will be first choice between the posts for Germany when the World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway next month, coach Joachim Loew said Wednesday.
Werder Bremen's Tim Wiese is also likely to be nominated when Loew names his squad for the matches in Liechtenstein on September 6 and Finland on September 10.
Wiese was called up for the recent friendly against Belgium after injury to Rene Adler of Bayer Leverkusen. With Adler still injured 30-year-old Enke will get another chance to claim the number one jersey for himself.
"You can take it that he will again be the number one in Vaduz and Helsinki," Loew said.
Loew will name at least 20 players for the World Cup qualifying matches, when captain Michael Ballack and fellow midfielder Torsten Frings are expected to return from injuries.
Defenders Per Mertesacker and Arne Friedrich will not be selected to give them more time to recover from their injuries.
