South African Airways (SAA) has retaken control of flight tickets that were being sold by the World Cup's official ticketing agency and says it will offer them to customers at lower prices.
Low demand led the agency, MATCH, to drop the number of flight tickets it wanted to reserve from 45,000 to 1,000.
Reuters reports that the agency has experienced similar problems with hotel rooms – it has relinquished rights to more than 450,000 nights of hotel-room bookings because of low demand according to SportBusiness.
South African online news agency IOL reports that an SAA official confirmed the flight tickets released by MATCH would be sold at a discount, but did not say how much cheaper.
