Former Germany trainer Berti Vogts has been named as the new coach of the Azerbaijan national team to take the side to the 2010 World Cup, according to reports on Sunday.
The 61-year-old, who quit as coach of Nigeria just five weeks ago, has signed a two-year contract according to German sports agency SID.
Vogts, who coached Germany to the Euro 96 title, takes over from Macedonian Gjoko Hadzievski who was dismissed after his side failed to qualify for Euro 2008.
